According to a study by the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT, retreaded truck tyres have a significantly better carbon footprint in production than high-quality new tyres of comparable quality. The study analysed new as well as hot, cold and factory retreaded truck traction tyres (315/70 R22.5 154/150L) from various brands.
A retreaded truck tyre produces around 135 kg or around two thirds less CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process compared to a new truck tyre with rolling resistance class D.
